My Place for Loneliness

There’s a place I go for loneliness That no one knows but me. I go there only when I’m sad To let my soul run free. It’s not a place to sulk and hide, But it sometimes shelters me. I use it to regain my pride And set my passions free. It’s not a place that others go To relax and unwind, Because this place I cherish so Is deep inside my mind.

A beautifully written and relatable poem, Steven. Sometimes to be at peace is to dwell within our own thoughts.

Yes, when you cannot seek shelter within yourself, you truly have nobody to turn to. That is why suicide is the most extreme form of self-criticism.

I loved the way you created your "special" place Steven, especially that you do not go to sulk and hide. Be brave. Thanks for posting. :)

Thanks, Linda. People seem to enjoy this poem, which was written to remind people that they also have, and should use, their own "special space."

'Twas a choice that you made. You didn't choose to be lonely, you chose to be alone. 'Twas the aftereffects that brought on loneliness. The measures is how it pans out. Good or bad, 'twas still your choice, done out of necessity--and you, Steven, you're aren't alone--lots of lonely people out there, including, moi, mon ami. Aloha, William

Hmm, that takes me back to my univ days--there are spaces and they are all nameless until they are given a purpose to be titled, which is birth from necessity. Hopefully, truth and reality will be definitive. Aloha, William

Yes, in order to understand the outer spaces, you must first understand your inner space.

Welcome Steve: Introspection is definitely a great coping mechanism. What was it a great philosopher once said? “Know Thyself. Hope you had a Merry Christmas. SuZ

Yes, you cannot understand others until you truly understand yourself. One day I will post my poem "My Three-Man Chorus". It addresses this matter better.

I hate loneliness but we must all abide in it at times. If we have learned to self-soothe we can survive. Merry Christmas, Steve!

Loneliness can be a problem, Kim. This poem is one of my eldest granddaughter's favorites.
