My Place

I visit a place of my youth Once wild and untamed A place of wild life Unbroken serenity A trickling creek Feeds a life filled pond Walking in beauty Cottontail rabbit running to the sage The air full of sound The valley quail sings his song Look into the sky A redtail hawk on his hunt A hiding place when life got hard How hard is a childs life? All is needed is an open ear Have you forgotten Alas 40 years have past Not tamed but destroyed The creek now silent My pond without life Empty skies with only the wind To remind us of what once was -Childhood escape-
