My Pet Dragon

He stands here now
to face a dragon with his snares
it spews a fire from its spacious nares
        lts talons scraping sand
to greet his rival with nets in strong hands
to save a damsel from a cruel fate
and not to slay him but to set
an example as he wanted a pet
