My Parting Gifts

Knock, knock , We are from the poetry soup asylum we need to go now !

Well my dearest daughter what can I say
One day you will find a handsome man who will want to whisk you away
He will shower you with compliments and promise you the earth
But please remember this me dear it hurts less falling off a bridge .

Well my dearest wife what can I say
I am having to go away today so divorce me if you like
I have at least 10,000 pounds sat there in the bank
Feel free to go and play my dear as I will not be coming out
so wifey nipped the shops and bought a pair of shoes
As shoes can change your life you see just ask Cinderella

Well by dearest son what can I say
I advice to you is buy a ship today so you can sail away
the ships name should be relation, why ? did I hear you say
as this will be the only relationship that will not hurt you in any way

Many lines made me smile but I found the final stanza quite sad - lets hope he doesn't hit a stormy relationship with the boat lol:-) good luck in the contest:-) hugs jan xx
