My Paper Heart
I slide my feet across the floor
trying to find an open door
I stumble through it in a daze
my Heart's on fire,
my eyes ablaze
The sunlight burns and
I can't see
Close the shade and turn my feet
For a second I think
I see you right there
Staring back at me through your wispy red hair
And then I wake up
And begin a new hell
my eyes are open
But my mind's a shell
I unfold my Paper Heart
I take up my pen and then I start
I write about you and I;
the happiness we shared
and the tears we cried
Splotches on my Paper Heart
raindrops from an empty soul
Then I fold up my Paper Heart
Wipe the tears and I embark
The existence labeled on my Paper Heart,
a revelation of
Not
our time apart.
