My Own Pace

I am leaping
Bounding
Running
Sprinting
Hurling myself towards the end of the runway
They say I’m moving too fast
That I need to slow down to see the sights
To experience life
To savor the moment
But I can’t.
I can’t slow down
Because I am
Bounding
Running
Sprinting
Hurling myself towards the end of the runway
So that eventually
In a puff of smoke
Before you even know it
I will lift off
And I will
Begin
To
Fly.
