My One Goal

Every year for me begins with an earnest goal,
One only, which I genuinely aim to achieve,
This year I attempt to accomplish my life-long
Poignant dream, an honest tale, a memoir to weave!

This true story my passion for a few years,
Fuse my unfeigned thoughts as sincerely as I can,
Memories turn into reverie, stem from soul, my
Humble quill tries to keep up with the ambitious plan !

At dawn, draw inspiration from magnificent sky,
From radiant sun, delightful wind swaying trees,
Chirping birds, fluttering butterflies my muse,
They surround me with mirth, and frolic with breeze!

This memoir honouring my parents, my ancestors,
Children to realize through adversity they did shine!
I write for the world yearning to delve into the past,
Many may find with wonder their own stories in mine !

I really admire your dream to write a memoir. I know that it will never simply stay in your dreams alone but it is your decision. Whatever you dream, I know you will strive to achieve. You are so powerful a person. Wish you all the Best, dear Mala. Once it is out, let many relate to it.

Dear Valsa, So delighted to read your comment. Only yesterday I received a mail from my mentor of memoir project (funded by Mississauga Arts Council) that they are moving me forward to work further on the project - this time funded by Ontario Government. I am thrilled, I am over cloud nine! There is a possibility that after I complete the second draft (I am done with first) they are going to present it to a Toronto-based publisher! I can't believe this, Dear Valsa! So this year I have to work real hard on it! Love and warm wishes, you and the other talented poets at this site are my inspiration!

Hello Mala, it’s been so long since I’ve been here and it’s so wonderful to read this poem of yours. What beautiful inspiration ….. you have inspired me and yes, I have my own desires to do the same - pieces of my life and historical fiction also, because I love the idea that there’s a certain amount of mystery involved. I’ve missed reading your beautiful Poetry. Happy Valentine’s Day my friend Sending you big hugs and love, Susan:)

Dear Susan, I am so sorry that I didn't have a chance to reply to your message for long! I was travelling in India for two months, and wasn't active here. I am so glad you are planning to write a memoir! To me, it's a fantastic idea. Everyone has stories in their lives - if we contemplate about it - and yours must be a fascinating one! To tell you a wonderful news - I have completed one course of memoir-writing with the local council, and now had been moved up to another one funded by the state! Will share details later. Love ~

I've begun writing my own memoir countless times these past few years and reading this inspiring poem may be just the kick I need to quit starting and instead, continue writing and complete that long term goal - this year! Thanks for the inspiration & motivation. Kudos, Terrell

Dear Terrell, I am so impressed with your message expressing your long-term desire to write a memoir. This had been mine too for the past few years! This year it has got a better shape because I got included in a memoir-writing project by our local Arts Council, and the project is going to be extended to 2025. For me, a memoir-writing is a Cathartic experience - you sound to be very eager too. A few days before, I posted a blog "Memoir Project" at this site. If you are interested, may have a look at it - I posted my mentor's message outlining what their expectations were! Thanks for your inspiring comment on the poem. Please let me know, if you can, how your writing goes. I will be enormously interested. Warm wishes ~
