My Older Brother
"I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)
I am never without it". Quote _ by E.E. Cummings
There was far more of you that we never got to see.
But I was able to see through the anger and the drugs.
The positive things you did for and with me, and the
way you thought of others were planted in my heart.
I have no doubt that time would have shown us more.
But it was not to be, because you left this world in 2004,
far sooner than anyone could have expected.
I grieve because we were not able to grow old together,
and because too few knew the real you; the one with a
great big heart; the one who made special efforts to
showcase the accomplishments of others. You were selfless.
It was very clear to me that you placed a high premium on
'The value of people'. On possession, not so much. So much
of who you are still living inside of me. Thanks for the model.
