My Oath

I took a sacred oath that day
Standing looking straight ahead I say
And it seemed so crystal clear
Something to hold onto and dear

In those days the bible spoke so true
And the oath was a sacred thing to do
But now oaths seem out of date
And things are left to fate

I wonder if there is a need to say
That society has lost its way
Where once we all pulled together
Now what’s good for me is reason like no other.
