My New Day

Birds chant their songs
Praying and rejoicing
A new day is born.
The distant east horizon
Makes a golden thread
Blessed is the new day.

Darkness starts to wane
In silence it makes its exit
It keeps its lips tight.
Sunrise takes over
Announcing it's approach
Louder by the second.

The chill of the morning
Pursues the flight of night
In its fright it caresses me.
It caresses the tress and everything
With its cold fingers..........
It must touch what it finds.

Birds start their rounds
Now that the sunshine shows
Life begins its routines.
So do I............
With my new day
I must strive for the one I love.
