My Near Death Experience

There are many thoughts about death that span both near and far.
Some are forced by religion or inspired by a shooting star.

Maybe we’re already dead, and this life is just “but a dream”.
Can we fathom a heaven and hell, or a creator who reigns supreme?

Mankind has searched for this answer, with science some closely look.
Many have found their rebuttal, with blind faith or words from a book.

Most will not know the truth, until the day comes when they die.
Either way our time here is short and will be gone in the blink of an eye.

There is only one way for a glimpse, but first, your heart must arrest.
All pain is instantly gone, then your vision is quickly suppressed.

I didn’t see heaven or hell, St. Peter, or the pearly gates.
But I did have a profound experience, there is something more, that awaits.

I don’t want to spoil the ending; some things just aren’t authorized.
Trust me my brothers and sisters, you will, be pleasantly surprised.

Many mysteries in life and no doubt many more in death. Your poem reminds me of that brilliant line from Hamlet: There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
