My Muse Commanded, Write Dark Poem Today

My Muse Commanded, Write Dark Poem Today
( In Tribute To Poe's Genius )

What purpose does that huge black bird pursue
with its unholy and incessant calls
Could it be, sent to punish and abuse
as oft are mirrors on adoration walls?

How does it find bedroom window late night
with more maddening, sleep depriving shrieks
Does so with such dark,devilish delight
with its screeching torments for many weeks!

Was it because, Poe's darkness I so love
or depths of my own dark caverns explored?
Can such be countered by blue skies above
or truth written in my own treasure hoard?

Can Poe's raven spirit truly be to blame?
Or could it be, I so crave for his dark fame?
