My Multi Feelings of Christmas
Christmas puts wonder and joy into my heart.
I turn five when I see bubble lights on a Christmas tree.
I turn ten when I roll out sugar cookies.
I turn twelve when I dress up in a pretty red and green dress.
Christmas reminds me to be playful and childlike.
Christmas carols have me singing loudly as I drive too fast.
Christmas takes me back to being a child, bringing mixed memories.
I did not get The Little Remo Red Spinning Wheel. I was devastated.
I had overheard my mother ordering it for me, so I was let down.
It was the only thing I wanted, but so did all the other eleven-year-old girls.
It was advertised as the best thing in the whole world in 1964.
My sister remembered this and bought me one thirty years later.
Christmas reminds me of the missing baby Jesus.
My sister and I had taken him out of the manger to play with him.
One of us had lost him; we are not sure which one.
But the nativity scene was never the same after that.
Christmas was the time my grandfather slapped me incredibly hard.
It was the day I saw what a beast he could be,
It was the last time I wanted to be around him.
It was the last day I loved him. Christmas brings lots of memories to me.
