My Mortal Muse My Wife

To my love of nigh four decades of bliss, I can't take you with me you've life to live, live it, let love be your guide, be remiss! So sorry if I hurt you, please forgive. Be remiss, be naughty, but make it fun! Remember, my body, donate it, please, to the Lincoln University, Hon. Forget, and I'll be back to haunt and tease! Remember me, my love for you, my wife! My legacy, my words of poetry. Remember all the good times of our life, My death, momentary felt misery. My muse you were but now you're free, I'm gone. You can still talk to me, ponder me do! My soul, it will forever linger on, waiting, knowing one day again, me, you! _______________________

Congratulations on your win. This one touched my heart. The way you mix darker emotions with the lighter ones is a talent I would love to have. Well done.

I agree hundred percent with what Greg said Mick. I enjoyed your poem as it kind of echoes what my husband has said to me. I worry about his health and I can't imagine life without him. Congratulations on your wonderful third placement! : )

I love the mix of mortality and whimsy in this, Mick, and how you seamlessly weave the sweet with the sour - I think that's what I aspire to in the end, and the most to hope for. Life is THAT, after all, (if we're lucky), and shouldn't our exits mirror the rest? Excellent rhythm and phrasing, and wonderfully charming. Congratulations on your THIRD PLACE in the 'My Muse, Mortal' Poetry Contest - blessings, my friend! :-)
