My Mistake

I should have known better, Oh my god how I tried, To love and to serve you, Until the day I die. I know I should’ve listened, And I should have complied, Will you ever understand, Just how hard I did try. But now I really know, How hard it is to love, One another when, Push comes to shove. My mistake has now past, Both our lives are torn, As we walk life’s path, Battered, weary, and worn. I wish I had forgotten, My distant past, I should have remembered, I belong in your heart.
