My Mind Said No

However, what I saw, you did not see,
As these feelings grew stronger and stronger.
Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! One wrong turn would have me
Regretting the move longer and longer.
Debating whether or not to tell you
How I felt, occupied my mind most days,
Nights, and everything in between too.
I decided to go the other way.
When you saw me, you only saw a friend
That you often trusted with your feelings.
So, that was what I would be in the end;
A heart hoping that time would bring healing.
     With roads on my right and roads on my left,
     I just chose to put you before myself.
