My Meadow, My Sun

as the sun hits my skin, I can't help but feel as though peace like this will forever be hard to come by. the earth beneath me cradles my aching bones while the flowers surrounding me fill my lungs with the scent of serenity with each wavering breath. the sound of birds and a slight breeze keep me from what would otherwise be a deafening silence. here I lie, alone and free and at peace. someday my body will be returned to the earth it once belonged to but until then, this is as close as I shall get. this spot will always be the closest I will get to feeling as though I belong. the trees will never spill my secrets but will always be there to listen. my dear daisies continue to remind me that there is beauty in every innocent thing. even the myriad of insects shows that when we all work together, we can create something more beautiful than we could have ever done alone. and finally the sun. my beautiful, brilliant, burning sun. the fiercest fire in the galaxy. without it, we'd have nothing. warmth, light, a feeling that you are exactly where you are meant to be. here, in my meadow, the burdens of life are washed away with the wind. I'm allowed to forget all of my troubles and simply be. the earth beneath me continues to cradle my aching bones, knowing one day, they shall return home. k.s. <3
