My Mask of Lies

I know how you see me...
You may think I'm an idiot,
But you're not as subtle as I once
Gave you credit for.

You will never see me more than
That girl...
You will never see more than
What has been put right in front of you.

I am more than what
He has painted me as.
I am more than your best friend's
'Once upon a time girlfriend'...
If you haven't noticed.

You never are going to see more
Than what's right in front of you...
Or you would have seen it was never
Just...

I'm not that kind of girl,
I only say I am so...
Guys like you and him don't know
I gave you more than just my body.

I wish you saw me for who
I really am
And not who he has painted me as...
Not what you just wanted to assume.

Cos I know,
All these words...
Fall upon deaf ears,
Though you'll never really know...

Never hear me say them from the lips,
You once kissed like I was a girl
Who meant something.
