My Marvelous Escape

It’s in great stories that my passion lies - in novels and in movies on a screen; a tantalizing tale, a thrilling scene read in a book or played before my eyes! My love affair began - as I recall - when mother read to me. What golden times! Enchanting fairy tales and nursery rhymes had planted fancy’s seeds when I was small. Then through my youth, I’d almost daily spend hours, my nose inside a fiction book. To find me, someone only had to look inside my room. I’d be there with a friend.. . Yes, every book I’ve loved, a friend -the best! Yet others came along to steal my heart - Romantic “West Side Story” was the start. And after “Spartacus,” I was obsessed! First, films and TV shows; then videotape. Now DVR - to feed my passion’s sin. I lose myself in them time and again. Great stories are my marvelous escape! For Linda-Marie's "Passion Pit"

Congratulations on your worthy poem presentation for a top ten spot, Andrea! Smile, Andrea I can never find the rhymes in an enclosed rhyme verse. Yes I see them now, they are end rhymes arranged differently. Two in the middle of the stanza and two, at the first and last line. Smile. Agape, Moses

Ahh...me too with movies! I didn't think of this as a subject for my poem, but I do share a passion with you. And I've remembered some of the ones you have mentioned in the past...so we like a lot of the same...West Side Story...still makes me cry in the end...and "Love With a Stranger" and Splender in the Grass"...we could have a Natalie Wood film festival...!! Great poem and a great passion!!

It is so nice to get lost inside a book. I can really get lost and don't know when to stop reading. Good luck in the contest. Yes with the snow you want a reliable car because nothing is worse having your car stall in the cold. I hope you find something soon. Sorry your computer got a virus and I hope you can find someone to fix it. I depend on Kerry to fix mine as he knows the computer inside and out. He is a computer whiz. God Bless Phyl

What a lovely entry with this poem, Andrea! I myself seem to be a bit oldfashioned yet with only videotapes, but I've got a lot of them! I do with you great success with this one for Linda-Marie's contest! And thank you for your welcome comment on "Early Snow". It seems we'll get an early winter this year! All the best and have a great week1...Love, Gert

Outstanding entry, Andrea. Awesome write. Enjoyed. Good luck. Thanks for your comments. I gave up smoking and drinking in 1974 when I retired from the Air Force. I never really did a lot of either and only did it because the guys I hung around with did which wasn't a real smart reason for doing either. I really didn't care for the taste of alcohol. When I smoked I didn't inhale except by accident. I guess that's more info than you wanted to hear about me. Sorry. xxxRalph

Good luck in the contest with this great write about your passions ....books, movies, theater...Reads like a winner...Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting...I appreciate you taking the time to do that...I can remember with those teen years that I felt like let someone else deal with one of my children for that one child was one rebellious teen...Been through it with my grandson again..I guess that I didn't learn what I needed to learn the first time around..Sara

My big sister read all the Nancy Drew mysteries and I did read a couple of them, but Trixie was more wholesome and outdoorsy. Guess I wanted to be more like her. Thanks for sharing that, Andrea. I didn't know anyone remembered Trixie Beldon. Love, Carolyn

It's great you developed a love for reading at a young age, Andrea. I started with the "Trixie Beldon" series in grade school and didn't really start reding serious literature until I was in high school. Great entry for the contest and I wish you success! Love, Carolyn

It is brilliant and outstanding and a sweet recollection of your most cherished hobbies and passion for books, movies and then the CD', DVD's and DVR. You have sketched in this beautiful Poem these strengths or weaknesses of almost every one of us. Only the degree of passion may differ. Very creative one my friend. My best wishes for your contest. Love and best wishes....Ravindra...Andrea Dietrich.
