My Mamas Prayer
Away beyond the distant mountain valleys of yore
I see my mamas face entwined in my heart evermore
Her soft and warming smile nurtures my soul
I see the beautiful lilies where the gentle stream flows
Mama, you sure had a way with loving this land
Your gentle nature steadied your loving hand
Sugar cookie dough caked upon a stained apron of blue
Lots of memories thrown into a mix of grace and prayer to
Mama had to go to heaven to help the angels sing
I hold in my trembling hand a locket, a gracious thing
Her prayers helped a wayward son live a life without pain
Oh mama, I just want to hear you pray again
