My Magic Childhood Sight

(I first thing mentioned here had to be from me dreaming "awake," but the other two things I still swear to this day I saw them and my sisters verify they remember me telling everyone about seeing those things!) A child, I woke from sleep once and surveyed, before my very eyes, a big parade with clowns and elephants and marching band. It could not be a dream; it was so grand! Then later where I lived there was a wood behind the street of our new neighborhood. And once while playing war games, I could swear I saw back there a big brown grizzly bear! It probably was thought I was a liar the day I claimed that on the telephone wire a toucan perched with bill bright green and red, which no one else had seen before it fled. It’s ages since I’ve had the chance to see such wondrous visions where they should not be! Nearsightedness is not my only plight. I’ve long since lost my magic childhood sight. For Crystal Wilkin's first Contest "Childhood Memories!"

How truly wonderful that must have been to see those animals-- wow-- a toucan! I am so much reminded when I saw a hummingbird in our garden-- it was totally unbelievable since we don't have those here, but there it was happily flitting about! I liked how you ended this one though, how sad that we lost that "magic childhood sight" I hope we get it back though-- will comment on your writes next time ok, sweetie? Hugs to you -- nikko :)

Hi Andrea. What a lovely study of a child's mind and vision. how dare those imagination starved heathens question those whose mind is open. Lovely, lovely and well written piece. PS. in 'Conflicts End', this is an English game called cricket whose rules are not understood by most. This is an an explanation that will leave you knowing less than before. http://www.eliteskills.com/z/149741 A peaceful and happy 2011 to you and yours, Eamon

Hi Andrea, Now you know why I love dreams!!! I once had a déjà-vue in a dream and it was very unique. Only years later when living in Antofagasta (Chile) this came real. I was lucky to have published a novel on episodes of my childhood now in Germany. Best of success in the contest!...Love, Gert

Andrea I hear you! We have all had moments where we saw things no one else could see. Shared the memories and no one would believe... We still have them but our "grown up" versions of them are called "De ja vu"... Ever have these moments where you know you've seen something or been someplace before? I enjoyed your memory...Good luck in the contest...Lay

Good luck in the contest with this unusual childhood memory..Reads like winners' circle work to me..I don't know if you saw those things are not but it is always possible..A pet bird escapes from a home or store..A bear leaves it normal path hunting for food...Your faithfulness in commenting on my work lifts my spirits..Sara

Full of magic in our childhood days, this is where the art begins on a child's dream and a mind so creative at the young age. Always we want to dwell in our childhood dreams and memories for we are on our own because that is our world. A lovely read, Andrea and good luck to you for this contest of Crystal Wilkin.
