My Love Is Missing
He'd been smothering me,
clinging even....
I was almost unable to breathe
even though it was warm,
even though it was loving.
I guess I was touched by it all
having been alone for so long,
my husband resting in peace now
three years.
Now he's just disappeared,
my love,
to someplace I have no idea of;
no more smothering,
no more clinging.
All those hours on the phone
quiet now;
all those days together,
alone again.
No happy mediums for me!
That's got to change.
When he gets back
we need to have a long talk.
Our lives could be intertwined
gracefully like two swans' necks
without the suffocation of a swan song,
just the togetherness of two people
in love.
