My Love

I have nothing to offer you but my love
She knew the promise was true
Her heart liked the dark hair boy
Still in his youth he was beautiful
But simple beauty is not enough
Love is a chance a gamble
What will love for the sake of love bring?
Security? Safety? Soundness?
She kissed the young man with the boyish face
There will be other loves
You will get over me
Tears can cry inside your soul
A heart of flesh can harden into stone
She won't be my love
She needed more than a promise
More than a chance
More than a gamble
More than hope
She needed more than my love
And my love evaporated into the mist of loneliness
My love left even me

Very sad, very lovely piece Fritz. Love is such a very fickle creature, no?
