My Long Lost Friend
MY LONG LOST FRIEND
Be discreet, itchy feet,
Keep your plans and go,
They may laugh, keep your path,
The point is, they don't know,
The sea of storms inside your head,
The creaking of your heart,
A battle raging for your soul,
When did real me depart?
A small piece of my former self,
Is hidden deep inside,
I feel it growing every day,
Restoring former pride
Once dashed upon the rocks of life
A being crushed and broken,
Body ravaged, mind asleep,
Now something has awoken
Need to nurture, feed and grow,
This sign of Winter 's end
A precious sapling needing care
It is my long lost friend
He left me many years ago
Did not see him depart
Just slipped away without a word
Now years we've been apart
But he is back, I keep him close
And no one know's he's here
Everyday our kinship grows
We are a force to fear
A time will come to set him free
My patience must endure
I need him at my side again
He is my only cure
The darkness then will fade away
Into the light I'll go
Feel the sun upon my face
And once again I'll grow
Into the man I know I am
Not this worthless shell
This daily waste of precious life
My living, breathing hell
Time is close, so very close
To let this journey end
Then anyone who cares to look
Will see my long lost friend.
