My Lillie

My "Lillie" The garden is overgrown The blooms are growing wild They are missing the sweet lady I remember as a child She would lovingly water Each and every stem As she pruned her pretty flowers She would talk and sing to them As she nurtured her garden She was ministering to us She was showing how to have grace To live in peace and without a fuss Keep life simple and with Jesus Share lots of hugs and a smile As she tended to her flowers She taught us lessons all the while When I smell the sweet gardenias Or see a lovely lily shine I think of my grandmother And I’m so thankful she was mine Through her grace and kindness She taught me more than she could know I wonder, as she watered flowers, If she knew she helped me grow I miss walking through her gardens And seeing her praying on her knees She was a lily robed in glory And her spirit blooms in me By Marcy Paulk Bonnette May 20, 2018
