My Last Dance
MY LAST DANCE
I don’t think I’m nearing to my end; but we don’t really
know when, how and where would that moment be.
I will be seventy and still going dancing for I love it.
Yet, I came to think of it two years ago, when my first
cousin died at sixty three, the very first one to pass in
our generation on my maternal side of the family.
Maybe, because I am the oldest in our generation.
I told my daughters “I don’t want you to cry and
nobody wears black”, while they were staring at me.
I went on “Celebrate me, wear glittering silver and
play the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bee Gees and other
pieces I love, no sad song, I’ll make the playlist”.
Why not celebrate my life after all the adversities
I withstood, the immeasurable life experiences
I had, the incredible people who touched my life
and of course, my amazing children and grandchildren.
I see myself dancing until the end of my time and yes,
dancing to the beat of Rock and Roll for I am a rock
that stayed grounded with all the adversities; but
adjusted to roll where my life took me and still doing so.
