My Kite

The Easter morning,
Easter baskets,
Lots of candy.

One new kite,
Two crossed rods,
Three tied knots.

The back door,
The back yard,
The back yard’s wind.

The short string,
The long string,
The oh-my-gosh-it’s-going-to-break string.

The amazement,
The fear,
The joy.

The rainbow stripes,
The rainbow tail,
My rainbow kite.

My one back yard,
My two big brothers,
Our three kites.
