My Island Persuasion
Palm trees in silhouette, deep purple sunset
tickle the moon of an indigo sky
Whispers of love seem to float on a pillow
made by the clouds as they’re waving goodbye
Birds of the night in their island persuasion
hint of a tune that we knew long ago
Sand dunes that temper the mist of the ocean
cradle our evening as I love you so
When you and I are alone with the stars
time can stand still, may this night never end
Something keeps calling, I don’t want to answer
rather, I’ll stay and let sleep by my friend
Yawning, I wake to the promise of coffee
only a dream was my island with you
Then as you lean in to kiss me good morning
I know that all of my dreams have come true
