My Hillbilly Dream
I was awake inside a dream right before the morning called.
I was relaxing on a rather old porch.
A bluegrass band was playing and I knew that this is where
I would be staying.
I was sitting upon this porch in a comfortable wooden rocking chair.
So crisp, so clean was the air.
Then I looked over to a gentleman who was sitting there upon
the porch's top stair, he was wearing a plaid, tan and white checked
long sleeved shirt. He was sitting there playing his fine guitar,
strumming the chords to this bluegrass beat.
We looked at each other, our eye contact let us know that we
were both full of mirth.
Then his eyes twinkled and he gave me a grin.
The next thing I knew is that he put his finger up to his mouth
in a gesture of shush.
Then as we stopped to listen, first there was a holy silence,
then a rift was opened up and we could see and hear the angels
sing about their love for our Lord.
That high mountain majesty was the habitation inside of my hillbilly dream.
