My Heart Is Full

My life is bright. I find it never dull.
So much to do, so much to hear and see.
I’m blessed for all of this; my heart is full.
I praise God for the blessings given me.

I thank the Lord that I have hands to touch
my grandson’s cheek and arms that I might hold
him close to me; I cherish very much
a family to love as I grow old.

I also cherish friends. Though some may leave,
they leave the fabric of their love behind.
With threads of friendships old and new I weave
a tapestry that lingers in my mind.

This tapestry of friendship, life and love
stays in my soul, and so it’s always near -
right by my heart - a heart that’s so full of
my gratitude for all that I hold dear.

A heart of gratitude is such an attractive attribute in a person. My favorite line: "With threads of friendships old and new I weave / a tapestry that lingers in my mind." Another lovely sonnet from your seasoned pen ~ John
