My Heart Is Broken
God gave me a beautiful, quiet, shy,
Thumbsucking,
And blanket carrying
Gentle child to raise.
Through every phrase
Of her life I did try
To give her everything I thought would
Apply
To get her by
In her life on the out side.
Lord, I taught her all about you.
I gave her lots of kisses, hugs, and above
All else unconditional love.
I really didn't want her to go.
I knew she didn't have a clue
To what was on the outside or the
Damage she would do.
The pain she put herself through
Not to mention her family who had to
Watch too.
Oh God! I prayed to you over the years
For you to give her the help she needed to
Get off the alcohol and drugs my baby
Was in so much pain.
I have the feeling she has already left me.
I want her to remain.
I believe in you!
I know what you can do!
Please, hear my plea
Fix her not just for me,
But for all her family.
I was waiting on a miracle which you do
Every day for those who don't believe in
You.
You don't have to tell me
It is plain to see
My baby is going to be
With thee.
It will be
Quite some time before I'll be
Able to see
Or feel her arms wrapped around me.
She was my gentle burning flame.
I blame
The devil
And especially man for all this evil.
I ask myself why didn't you think
Before you took that drink?
Why didn't you think
Before you took that drug?
Did you think?
This was a game?
You could of ceased while you had a voice
Before you had no choice
And the stuff took you over.
I'm trying yet, I can't help it my eyes
Runneth over
With tears that are falling like a steady rain
They fall until my body feels the drain.
I keep saying your name
Hoping you'll answer me
As a little more I die
On the inside.
I try
To think what went awry?
Why did she have to die?
I tell her through my tears
You are free
From all the pain.
God, this wasn't the answer I was looking for.
Yet, you know so much more than me
You took her to set her free
To give her dignity
Because what she couldn't do for
Herself God did. I see.
I ask through my tears
Please, let my daughter's ashes come
Home
To rest with me.
She'll never be alone.
She'll be at home
With the rest of her family
Where she should be.
