My Heart In Your Audience
A close brush with your song painted me through
The spotlight chasing, hypnotised had no clue
The lyric that stroke my heart as it flew by
When I was thoroughly tainted blue like the sky
Caught in the wave of it all like a tied shoe
Oh the thrill of finding something new I never knew
Your gifted hands soothed my aching heart
Their gentle force took my pain apart
The empty chairs should stand to take a bow
Along with my feet in a trance a step to make a vow
Still I remained – touched – indeed moved by you
Subdued – although enthused by the view
My feet have shuffled a thousand miles
In my socks my heart moved a thousand smiles
My inhibitions broke the safety of my present tense,
I don’t know how
To set free, lost and give in to this dance to whence
I don’t care why
