My Heart

My Heart
I once was asked what kind of heart beats within my chest
A simple heart was my reply, a heart that tries it's best
It's a heart that wouldn't hesitate to walk a friend's last mile
A heart that’s fierce but still can melt when it sees a child’s smile
Sometimes it is a selfish heart that doesn't like to break
At other times it’s a fun filled heart that loves a birthday cake
It's a heart that beats with tenderness for the people in its life
A heart that's sometimes worn down from worrying and strife
Sometimes it is a restless heart that longs for some adventures
But mostly it’s a contented heart that enjoys life’s simple pleasures
It’s a heart that’s filled with faith and hope and lots of love to share
This heart that beats within my chest, it beats because it cares

Lovely tribute to the heart Cathy, we wouldn't get far without it. Tom
