My Guardian - For Dar

A strong, handsome spirit my guardian friend
Always by my side and ready to defend
Even if harm was not the intent
You always made clear your were in my defense
                                        We traveled along at liberty
Both smiling as you looked back at me

So ever faithful, the last of my three
Now bonded together in a lasting trinity
As in a peaceful realm he now abides
So to become my spirit guide
Guarding me well as any angel does
                                       To my sweet wonderful Dar
                                          I’m sending all my love

Now I can better understand your comments with regards to my poem 'loneliness'! Losing a pet and a companion of many years leaves a sad and painful mark. Your heartfelt poem reflects this. [by the way...the word 'dar' in Maltese means 'home'; he must have been very much at home with you!] Regards // paul

That's interesting about his name in Maltese...it doesn't feel like home without him :(... Actually Dar was the name of Marc Singer's character in an 80's movie "The Beastmaster"...he could communicate with animals. have a great day Paul :) C.H.

Lovely poem for a wonderful pet. I enjoyed reading it. Do you write songs? I would love to listen to some if you have them.

Thanks so much for the visit and lovely comment Kudzai :) I do write songs, thank you for your interest... On my poem page look for "I Can't Believe"or "Ruins of the Day"...these are song lyrics that have a link to my site on Soundcloud.com where you can hear me sing :) C.H.

Your special tribute brought tears to my eyes Chris. My daughter lost her Siberian Husky who was also 13 years old last year. It is so difficult to say good-bye. This is beautifully poignant! : )
