My Guardian Dear
When I was young I thought I knew
How to talk and speak with you
But time has put a wedge between
My angel, conscience, inner being.
I spoke to you , I spoke to you
The one who told me right from wrong,
Comforted me all the day long.
Helped me choose which way to go,
When undecided, I just didn't know.
I spoke to you. I spoke to you.
Some call you Gabriel,
My Guardian Angel, I did tell,
My hopes, my fears, my dreams to be,
Untold to others, was free with thee.
I spoke to you, I spoke to you.
Comfortable, believing that you were there,
To guide me through every prayer.
You had a name I knew it then,
I said it time and time again.
I spoke to you, I spoke to you
I was a child of seven or eight,
I knew when called I need not wait
For you my angel to appear
To clear my conscience and my fear
I spoke to you, I spoke to you.
The older I grew, less time was spent
Talking to you,trying to vent
Friends became closer to me,
I shared more with them and left you be
I spoke to you, I spoke to you.
Now as I'm in the prime of life
Mother to my son, no longer a wife,
I wonder late at night if you
Will answer my questions like you used to do
I spoke to you, I spoke to you
Afraid to test, afraid to fail,
Wanting and hoping you did not bail
Praying that your still at my side
To light, to guard,to rule and guide.
I spoke to you, I spoke to you.
My faith has told me you are here.
Watching over me and always near.
My pride, my walls have all come down
Last night,I spoke with no one around.
I spoke to you, I spoke to you.
My Guardian Angel you were there,
You listened and helped with every prayer,
My hopeless feelings, lonely, just me
Ended last night when you returned to me
I spoke to you, I spoke to you
I"ll speak to you, yes speak with you.
