My God, Thank You For Subduing Me Powerfully

MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR SUBDUING ME POWERFULLY
Thank You for subduing me powerfully, smiting my haughtiness
Thru Your ruling graciousness
To teach me genuine humbleness
Toward functional meekness.
Thank You for subduing me powerfully, checking my anger
Thru Your loving touch with compassion’s finger
To shield me against bitterness-dagger
Toward helpful kindness that does divinely linger.
Thank You for subduing me powerfully, correcting my ignorance
Thru Your upholding wisdom, full of truth’s assurance
To keep me from foolishness-endurance
Toward biblical conviction’s performance and forbearance.
Thank You for subduing me powerfully, admonishing my backsliding
Thru Your complete forgiveness that’s iniquity-ridding
To embrace me within Your mercy’s enfolding
Toward worshipful gratitude-attending.
Thank You for subduing me powerfully, conquering my discontentment
Thru Your abounding provisions’ bestowment
To satisfy me with heavenly fulfillment
Toward praise-moved commitment.
Thank You for subduing me powerfully, vanquishing my materialism
Thru Your eternal words outlasting earthly truism
To rebuke me and my vain humanism
Toward earnest service geared by godly optimism.
