My God, Thank You For Defending Me

MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR DEFENDING ME
Thank You for defending me from injustice
By Your mercy of compassion’s practice
Such is true love, even sometimes I don’t notice
Always working for me in my labour as a servant-apprentice.
Thank You for defending me from wickedness
By Your righteousness of wisdom’s holiness
Such is evident in the midst of my sinfulness
Always leading me toward spiritual steadfastness.
Thank You for defending me from guilt-affliction
By Your forgiveness of pardon’s perfection
Such is abounding beyond my transgression
Always convicting me for repentance-fruition.
Thank You for defending me from persecution’s struggle
By Your voice of Word’s bugle
Such is loud to awaken me from weariness-tangle
Always pulling me up against falling’s angle.
Thank You for defending me from fear-shame
By Your power of might’s flame
Such is bright that speaks of Your name
Always radiating to me Your triumph against worldliness’ game.
Thank You for defending me from distress-sorrow
By Your presence everyday and each tomorrow
Such is sure that shields me from frustration-arrow
Always upholding me and my new nature’s marrow.
