My Gift

I surrender My Gift
to Him who created me,
and will follow His precepts
till His Light I see.

I thought to find happiness
in things I could buy,
but soon came to realize
they had left me dry.

I worked long and hard
and reached goals with pride,
but when I arrived,
I felt empty inside.

I then sought fame and fortune
to find peace and joy,
but the cost was My Gift,
it nearly destroyed.

So My Gift I now surrender,
to Him who created me;
I will follow His Leading,
Till His face I see.
