[not the traditional rhyme scheme ~ a mix between the lyric and the pantoum with internal rhyme]

Listen to poem:
be still, my foolish heart let not the moon possess your soul let not the summer breeze enchant you like the sirens who scheme to rob your senses haste not to part with what is yours be still, my foolish heart stay strong and do not buckle stay strong, stand firm and do not crumble in the face of the most alluring temptation think twice before you give away what’s yours be still, my foolish heart let not the stars misguide your mind let not the serenades seduce you like the enchantress who intends to rob you blind hold on tight to what is yours be still, my foolish heart you know you lost the fight you know your soul was forfeited the moment you burned to kiss those lips seen in your dreams now you long to give away what was once yours AP: Honorable Mention 2022 Submitted on April 3, 2022 for contest MY FOOLISH HEART sponsored by L MILTON HANKINS
