My Foolish Heart

On this fretfully dreary and desolate day, when at last the fading sun dipped his face, I was grieved to realize love had led me astray. Now, I am lost in a sullen, shadowed place. When at last the fading sun dipped his face I welcomed darkness as my dearest friend. Now, I am lost in a sullen, shadowed place where heartache is a malady without end. I welcomed darkness as my dearest friend within this bitter realm I have come to embrace, where heartache is a malady without an end. Each time I close my eyes, I still envision his face. Within this bitter realm I have come to embrace, fear forces me into an abyss. Deeper, I descend. Each time I close my eyes, I still envision his face. My foolish heart has no desire to heal and mend. Fear forces me into an abyss. Deeper, I descend. I was grieved to realize love had led me astray. My foolish heart has no desire to heal and mend on this fretfully dreary and desolate day. April 3, 2022 My Foolish Heart Cash Prize Contest Sponsored by Milt Hankins

Congratulations, Jenna!! I love your poem! It is beautifully crafted and your rhyme pattern allows your poem to flow smoothly from stanza to stanza. I can relate most to your line, "Each time I close my eyes, I still envision his face." Wonderful poem! God bless and much love...Meghan!

Wow you have been busy Jenna, you know how to write a pantoum, I must admit it's not my favourite form, I haven't got the patience. Hope you have a great week ahead. Tom

Wow, Jenna, pantoums are not easy to write and have all the lines make sense within the context of the poem but this one is done so well. The emotions of a broken heart ooze from your words. Nicely penned my friend! Hope all is well in Cajin country. John

They are difficult, John, but I love the challenge... even when I have to go back with corrections to make it cohesive. I appreciate your mentions of a broken heart. Thanks so much.
