My First Love
When I was young
You loved me unconditionally
There was nothing
You wouldn’t do for me
You even gave me
Your last
As I grew up
You tried to teach me
Some of life’s lessons
Because you were in the world
When I hurt
You comforted me
Often telling me
Everything will be alright
You gave me
A shoulder to cry on
When my heartache was
More than I could bare
You were the light
The strong force in my life
I miss you daily
I still feel
The pain in my heart
From your absence
Wishing on a star
That you were here
If only I could go back in time
I would change the outcome
And have you standing by my side
I love you daddy!
