My First Could Not Have Been Worse
I can remember with vivid distaste a most important stepping- stone,
July was the month, 83’ was the year and I was on my way home.
Maybe he wasn’t the cutest of guys but how picky could a girl be,
I wasn’t getting any younger and Billy Dilly wanted to kiss me!
My toes felt a stir, my knees gave a shake, my stomach, it churned with delight,
My heart skipped a beat, my mouth formed a grin, I prayed I would do this right.
The hair on my neck tingled so badly, my mind had a very strong will,
Today I would become a woman; the irony makes me laugh still.
Abruptly we stopped, he turned to me I knew that this was the time,
Loud trumpets sounded, snare drums did roll, finally his lips met mine.
The sun was so hot, our mouths were quite dry, his tongue was both cold and stiff,
No shooting stars, no angelic bells, “My God!!! What was that stench???”
We parted ways I watched him go, disappointment loomed in the air,
If I never kissed another boy I truly did not care!!!!
