My Final Ride

The night feels so cold and lonely As darkness closes in You've held my heart all these many years Now please just hold my hand To feel the gentleness in your touch To see the love that's in your eyes Gives me the comfort that I need In my journey to the other side Let the children know I love them And that I'll miss them more than life Tell them to take good care of their mother And that we'll meet again in time As I close my weary eyes To rest from all they've seen Memory recalls the journey taken And the wondrous life it's been With your sweet lips upon my forehead Deep down inside I smile For that was all the push I needed To start this, my final ride
