My Favorite Teacher
My favorite teacher was my father
He taught me love when
He played with me and held me
Came home exhausted with bloody fingers
After a sixteen hour work day
When he did without for his family
He taught me respect when
He listened to what I had to say
Made me use my manners
Showed me how much he loved and honored my mother
Respected his elders
He taught me dignity
The way he helped the less fortunate
When he saluted the flag
Went to work every single day for decades and never complained
And never judged anyone
He taught me courage
When he volunteered and was wounded for his country
Stood up for the weak
Put himself in danger for others
Went to Heaven humbly, with bright clear eyes, not complaining, after showing us all how to live
He taught me how to live and how to love through his actions, not words, in the greatest of all classrooms ….. LIFE....
