My Father's Words
My father's words,
Pieces from his heart,
His candid words,
Fall swiftly like leaves from a tree,
They hit like a hammer on an anvil,
Dropping in like a bob into a pool,
To make that splash that ripples far and wide,
My father's words,
They're lights that brighten a dark path,
His candid words,
They're pathways that link two worlds,
They're impacting words,
They're battle shields,
He calls me to sit beside him,
He tells me to listen and heed.
