My Father I Love Thee

My father is dead and gone

                 but he continues to remain,

                 though not in skin bone and flesh;

                 but in me within me, and in my heart,

                 that only I can feel and see eternally;

                  I revere him and hold him in high esteem

                  and bow to him though I don't see him physically;

                   He brought me up as a child with all care and love

                    That only a mother c'd possibly give;

                     and was a pole star at that stage of my life;

                      and later in my boyhood and youth

                      He took up the role of a friend-philosopher and guide

                      An awesome guiding force that molded me

                       to what I am today, a man disciplined and educated

                       And one who respects elders their words and advice

                       Love children and respect women

                       And lead a life not entirely to myself and my family

                       but a life of some use to the society in general

                       and the down-trodden in particular;

                        My father eternally lives within me

                        and though dead and gone physically

                         lingers to live within me

                         an enduring loving and affectionate guiding force

                         A beacon of light !

                         I salute thee my father on this day

                         The Father's day and seek your blessings

                          For me and my family to live

                          in peace and fortitude and be of help

                          to others in society and the country,

                          that you taught me I should!
