My Eagle

My nest is emptier now by one.
Ripped a gaping hole where from the fledgling flown.
He felt the pull of open sky, brazen adventure beckoning
beyond the confines of safely folded feathers.
I trust his wings to carry him far.
I hope his courage will keep him aloft.
While my heavy hearts holds me earthbound;
I want him to soar.
