My Dog Kell
He leaped upon the stairwell,
He rolled in our chimney soot
He jumped around, my doggie Kell,
He was always under foot
We fell over as we tried to leave
For he was always the first one out
Irritating our neighbor, Miss Beave
Who always gave a shout
You know he is excited, mom would say
Just let him go first, he’s going to anyway.
Kell was my dog, and full of joy and love
Enthusiasm oozed from his maker above.
Kell leaped and jumped and rolled when young
When older, he began to rest, taking lots of little sleeps.
I miss his younger days, when we had so much fun,
And he rolled over me and made those puppy leaps.
