My Dearest . . .

Standing on the edge of we,
      hourglass cracked and spilling
future time out of mine
and yours

resting in the sand
left there a million years
before you arrived . . .

. . . you became ten thousand
      drops of water
in the ocean
and the weight of a mountain
in
      one handful of dust.
