My Dear Friend
I journeyed into
Mist burdened mountains
Along wet and slippery roads
Bunya pines
And Flame tress
Burning bright
To reconnect
With an old friend
She is
An Artist
A Designer
A beautiful
Person
A heart of gold
A heart for art
We shared a dream
For a collaborative piece
Her space
An old cheese factory
Clad in vines
Weathered by time
Part candle factory
I walk the rainbow isle's
And inquired
Of a man
"You mean, your friend ?
She died, just before Covid
Hit by a car
I am sorry'
I felt
Instant guilt
Shame
For not keeping
A connection
In life
In death
In the end
For an old friend
That lives on
In my heart
I walked into drizzling rain
A little stunned
So much more poorer
So much more
Lonelier
As those connection's
Keep dropping in and out
Those wounds
Those Scare's
And unseen sunsets
